Thrifted Style: My Return to Outfit Posts

If you have been following my blog since its early days, you may remember that I used to do outfit posts. You might have also realised that I stopped. When I started blogging it was not yet an industry. At that time there was a more casual approach to content creation and the term influencer was not yet associated with someone who used their social media leverage to persuade others to shop. Back then, sharing outfit posts felt organic. I enjoyed revealing my thrift/vintage store finds. Gradually though, most of this changed. As things shifted, I knew that since I mainly shopped at thrift stores, I couldn't provide links to the majority of items I wore. Due to this, I thought I couldn’t offer much to my readers by sharing my outfits. For those reasons plus the fact that I don’t tend dictate how I dress based on trends, I convinced myself that I did not fit into the fashion blogging set. Eventually, I stopped creating style posts altogether.

So, what has changed? ……

Last year, I decided that I wanted to really treat blogging/content creation as a business (more on this another day). Once I arrived at this decision, I narrowed down the type of topics I wanted to blog about. Surprise surprise! Style posts were on the list. However, I had no intention to steer away from shopping mostly at thrift stores. I still enjoy it way too much. I like the thrill of the search and finding treasures at amazing prices. I like minimising the waste I put into the environment by recycling clothes other folks have discarded. This time around I see the value in sharing my outfit posts and I feel more eager to highlight my thrifting adventures. That is not to say that I will not sometimes feature clothing fresh off the retail racks but they will definitely not be my main focus.

So, what do you say to being stylish, eco-friendly and saving some coins?
